FUNimation pulls several seasons digitally

It is unknown as to why this has happened, however, it would appear that FUNimation has pulled several seasons/episodes from across many different digital storefronts. Thanks to a TIP off from Gammalad on Youtube, it came to my attention and I have done research, and have come to the following:

On Google Play and Itunes, the entire series has been pulled. Searching CASE CLOSED on either store turns up nothing:

On Amazon Video, every season but Season 5 is available:

On Xbox Live and Playstation Network, all 5 seasons are still available:

I am not sure what this means. Could FUNimation be losing the license to Case Closed? Or is it some system error? I have contacted both Alison Viktorin (Conan's VA) and FUNImation for an answer and hopefully I will have one soon.

Case Closed: The Mirapolis Investigation - REVIEW (SPOILER FREE)

Please note that this review will be SPOILER FREE, since it is more "obscure". I want to give people an oppourtunity to actually play the game themselves, so instead of spoiling the story, I will only reveal slight tidbits of information.

The One and Only "Case Closed" game, The Mirapolis Investigation was released in the summer of 2009 only in Europe, and only on the Nintendo Wii console. The game takes Conan and friends to a place called The Mirapolis. The game plays similar to the previous point and click "Detective Conan" games that were released in Japan, and everything is rendered in 3D. Some parts of the game also play as a visual novel with 3D animated backgrounds.

NAME: The Mirapolis Investigation
YEAR: 2009
PLATFORM: Wii
REGION: EU/JP
PLAYERS: 1
CORRESPONDING SEASON: N/A

This game is the only Case Closed game to be released, as all of the other Conan games have never been English dubbed besides this one (And a very, very old GBC one in the 90's).
Despite the game not being affiliated with FUNImation entertainment, all voice talents from the English dubbed Anime returned.

One of the many things I hate about this game, which may seem like such a small thing, is Vi Graythrorn's (Haibara) name. In the game, they decided to use her name from the Manga rather than the Anime Movies (Vi only appeared in the movies, as CC was cancelled a season short of her Anime introduction). Her name in the game and manga is Anita Hailey, which yes, is more Americanized than Vi Graythorn, but I preferred Vi, because the name comes from FUNImation, and I prefer the Anime series to the Manga, IMO. Yes, this seems like a very small thing, and it is, but it breaks storyline for me when they constantly call her Anita.
Another problem with the game is the very bad animations. Yes, it is a budget title, and yes, we are lucky at all to be getting an english dubbed CC game. However, the animations are painfully awful, and not to mention that almost every ingame character model actually looks like their Anime counterparts, something is up with Conan's face ingame. Is it his glasses? No idea. It looks awkward. Additionally, when characters engage in conversation with NPC's, they simply stand looking forward with no facial expressions whatsoever, as seen below.

A few other minor problems are the plot inconsistencies. The plot jumps around from one place to another, and they first talk about one thing, and then another.

More problems occur with the very bad control scheme. Since you are forced to use the awful Wii controller in the style of a TV remote, as you can imagine for a 3D platform/action adventure game, this is a bad thing. Controlling Conan is a pain. If you could use a classic Wii controller, or at very least this came to PS3 and 360 with analog sticks, it wouldn't have been a problem.

I do recommend that hardcore Case Closed fans check this game out if you can. Sadly, if you don't have access to a Europe Region console, or at least a region free modded Wii, you are out of luck, because the North American port of this game was to be published by Electronic Arts in 2010 (According to IGN.com), but nothing ever came of the port.  It is assumed that it was cancelled due to Funimation ending the dub. Who knows?  If you can play it, I suggest you check it out. The plot was poor though, and the overall experience is not really rewarding, but if you are finished watching the Anime and Movies and just want more Conan, this would be something you can get into.

Case Closed Episode 2: The Kidnapped Debutante - REVIEW

Episode Number: Episode 2 - The Kidnapped Debutante
Airdate: May 25th, 2004
Season: 1
Featured Characters: Conan, Rachel, Richard

A few days ago, I reviewed the First Episode, and now I am reviewing the next episode, Episode 2: The Kidnapped Debutante, which originally aired in Japan on January 15th, 1996, and later aired in the United States on May 25th, 2004.

In this episode, Jimmy wakes up and discovers he survived. However, police are searching the area and find him, and after they start to make him uncomfortable calling him "Little Boy" and "Kid", Jimmy runs away and finds his way into the city. After tripping and getting up, he sees his reflection in a window and discovers he has shrunk back into his body from when he was 7 years old. He then runs to Dr.Agasa's home, to where he convinces him he is Jimmy and they come up with an alias to protect him, and they use Conan, named after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Next, Rachel enters the house and Agasa lies and tells her that Jimmy had a case, and that Conan needs a place to live. Rachel takes him home and a case pops up.

It turns out that a little girl was kidnapped by a man in black. Thinking he has a lead on the people who shrunk him, Conan gets into the Taxi Cab with Richard and Rachel and goes along. They get to a mansion of a rich business man and he says his daughter was kidnapped. Later they discover the kidnapping was a hoax but later they discover that she was kidnapped again. Conan and a dog track her down to a shed at a school, and get attacked by the kidnapper. Just when the kidnapper is about to kill Conan, Rachel thankfully intervenes and knocks the culprit out. He is arrested, and the little girl is taken home.

After, Rachel asks Richard if Conan could stay, and after a few seconds of thinking, he says its fine if he does. The episode then ends. In the epilogue, Conan introduces himself to his classmates at an elementary school and says to himself: "Please just be a dream."

This episode is a pretty good episode. Good action and a plot twist. Also with every CC viewer, it is probably the most memorable, especially if you watched Case Closed on Adult Swim from 2004-2005. Case Closed had been cancelled after the 50th Episode aired on August 16th, 2004 due to low ratings, however, Adult Swim continued to air re runs until March 2005, and a they constantly kept replaying the first and second episode, so this episode is a memorable one. I can actually remember every single line. Hmm...

Download the official OST now!

A few days ago when browsing my old IMAC G3 that I pulled out of my closet, I discovered I had the Case Closed Official soundtrack on my ITUNES player. You may be asking: "Wait... what? FUNI released an OST?" They sure did!

Here is a bit of a backstory:
It was summer 2010, Funimation quietly released the OST to the English Series on ITUNES for a whopping $20! I, being a Case Closed fan, snagged it up when I seen it. However, I noticed that a few days later, it was pulled for unknown reasons and to this day, it was never put back for sale, and many have not even heard of the OST at all! However, a few days ago, when digging in my closet, I found my old IMAC G3 and powered it on. When I went into ITUNES I discovered that I had the OST and remembered it. I transcoded it to work on other players that were not ITUNES Authorized and now it works fine. They are in MP3 format and I have the front and back art.

I hope you enjoy this! There are some rare tracks here, like the English version of "Happy Birthday" that was used at the end of the first movie, but in full form!

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT HERE!
