Earlier today I received an email from a viewer of my blog saying that he spotted the following on the Canada Amazon Store. Apparently it is a Blu-Ray release of all 5 seasons packed on 2 BR discs in one box for the price of $59.99. (Pretty good price considering if you buy all 5 seasons on DVD from Funi it would cost $100 + Tax and shipping, all together).
It is a bit questionable though, so take it with a grain of salt. Why? First off, compared to the other season boxes, the box art seems very unprofessional. Second, this is FUNimation we are talking about. The price would be more like $100+ knowing them. Thirdly, some things seem a bit odd on the text side. Looks photo shopped to me. It may be real, but don't be sad if this never actually releases on May 1st.
But if it does, buy it. This is a considerably good deal to own all 5 seasons for that price. Sadly, if this is real, "The Complete Series" clearly means they are set in stone about not doing a future season. Oh, and its odd that they say "Complete Series", when it includes only the TV show. The 6 dubbed movies are missing.
Hmm... well if it is infact real, then we need to all order copies. This is a good thing. Even if it is not a season 6 or movie 7, it is a brand new medium in the franchise: a compilation. This means that:
ReplyDelete1. Funimation renewed their ownership rights to the series in english
and
2. The series clearly is still selling or else they would not even bother.
Save Case Closed must be getting the word out more than we think
It sounds more like a bootleg, now that I read the post, but it would have helped if you gave us a link to the product.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, when people get Blu Ray, they expect HD quality, and to achieve that, nobody would put 123 episodes (130, according to FUNimation's count) will not be on two BDs. If anything, the discs will contain SD footage, especially since the only HD masters for the first 123 I know about would be the remastered footage and Japan has not even done a remaster of all the early episodes, only a few.
Actually, every FUNI episode has been remastered in japan. They have so far remastered 257 episodes in HD with new scenes, etc.
DeleteActually, 258 and 259 have just been announced as the next remasters: http://forums.dctp.ws/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12200
So if FUNI wanted too, they could easily cut the new scenes from the remastered episodes, and simply place the voice tracks from the old episodes on the new episodes. That would technically be easy considering it is pretty much the same. There are actually fans who have done that already themselves on fansub sites.
So those 123 (130) episodes FUNI did, are all remastered as of now.
They should take that into consideration.
One of the biggest reasons CC failed was due to the very low quality picture, so when people watched it on adult swim in 04 they thought it was some old show rather than something new as FUNI had advertised it. If they redubbed the series using the HD remastered episodes it could stand a better chance.
Unfortunately, one of my sources is down, so the information is probably old, but back in 2013, there were only 22 cases listed with remastered versions and they were not in chronological order.
DeleteDCW remastered episodes listing
Now, it might be fixed, though I cannot confirm it because they are requiring one to log in at this moment, due to maintenance, but if all 123 had been remastered, there would have been at least 105 listed, since Detective Conan World handles episode information like my reviews were handled (covering multi-part and extended length episodes on one page, instead of covering each portion of the multi-part cases on a page of their own).
Thank for review when you make season 6 come to arab
ReplyDeleteSorry this is a fan hosted blog by fans for fans.
DeleteWe do not have any say as to if there will be more seasons.
I think this is fake.
ReplyDeleteIf this was real I would buy 3 of them, one for myself and 2 to give away on YouTube...however this is a major fake, for one I don't think they would call it the complete series if it was real, and second if it was coming out this soon FUNi would have posted on their FB about it.
